If it's a used lower pan, it may be from a 1600 engine. They used a shallower sump. If someone else doesn't step in with the measurements I'll try to measure one tomorrow. Easy fix, just use a lower sump from a later (69? and up) engine. The other thing to check is whether or not your upper pan has a dipstick tube.
