need to replace oil pan-hole in it-can anyone tell me the size of the bolts and quantity- that way i can get new ones before taking pan off.

welcome to the bb stainless. If it's the lower pan, m6X1mm pitch 1 inch long or so, if upper they're m11x1mm pitch.

I think alfadan meant to write that the upper ones are 7x1mm, not 11x1mm. They have an 11mm head, however!

i found some metric double ended studs for the lower pan- these should work better than bolts, don't you think?

maybe...

Stripped threads in the aluminum are common. Studs sound like a fine idea, but you might need to install some Helicoils or Thread-serts, something like that, before it will be a good repair.

John, it won't hurt anything. But it sounds like a lot of work for something that just isn't needed. The lower pan is very easy to remove and replace. And if you remember that you are threading into aluminum, you won't strip the holes. They don't take much torque, and mine have never leaked.
