The front suspension units of the Alfa 6C 2500 are filled with a light oil. I could not find any reference to the recommended oil in my factory literature. I have an old Shell lubrication chart for the 6C 2500 and it recommends Shell DONAX A.1. I could not find an interchange to a modern equivalent oil.

What oil do owners use in the front shocks on the Alfa 6C 2500?

6C Front Spring Units

Fred,

The 6C 2500 maintenance instructions translate as a fairly uncomplicated:

"Every 400 km. to verify (check) the level and to resupply with oil of normal type for motor." i.e. Shell double extra S.A.E. 40, Mobiloil AF. Or for cold weather, Shell double, S.A.E 30 or Mobiloil A. So normal engine oil was specified!

I have used a local Penrite hydraulic oil designed for use in Mercedes-Benz self-levelling suspension units. It is also suitable for motorcycle forks and Ohlins shocks.

"Penrite MB 15 is a light, high viscosity index, zinc free Premium Mineral oil designed for suspension components & hydraulic self-levelling suspension units that specify MB 343.0. Colour of product is Amber."
Key Specifications
MB 343.0
ISO 15

I am sure you can find a local US equivalent product.
