i am thinking about useing some header wrap to quite things down a bit..i know rusty headers..i figger if i remove the tape once in a while this will not happen...

so a tape like thermo-tec will work well?

ok.. quite it down some more.. found that my tranny was butted up agianst the body,, so the tranny noise was being amp'ed thru the body itself..so while i was replaceing the speedo drive gear on the mainshaft( yes..i love the t5 tranny.. i left the tranny in the car.. sliped off the driveshaft,4 nuts bolts,removed the tailshaft, and repaced the drive on the mainshaft) so before i put the tranny back up into place,i added some 1/4 rubber sheat to cover the top part of the tranny, and a little down the sides.now the tranny doe's not come into direct contact with the bodyshell, replaced the drivesahft.. a lot quiter.. some exhaust noise still. work on that sunday.
