My 91 spider will not longer shift into 3rd gear. Transmission works fine on all other gears.
The car did shift well prior to the long restoration.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you not physically push the shift lever into third, or does it just act like it's not in gear when you select third?

Third Gear

I cannot push it into third gear.

With the car not running, I was able to shift it into that gear.

Ahhh, I wonder if your third gear syncro self-destructed......do you hear grinding when you try to shift?

You might want to look at the transmission rebuild manual, it's here on the boards....very helpful in understanding how it all works, and troubleshooting of course.

Here's the manual...its for the older cars, but much of it is the same on newer Spider boxes.
