Well, after a long time away from Alfa land, I took the plunge…yes there is a sucker born every minute…. And bought a 1986 Graduate.

The car was languishing in a garage of a friend of a friend. He had bought it for his wife and after she drove it a few times, decided she didn’t like in anymore….. so, for 3 years the car sat only being driving a few times a year.

The car runs great…. Just had it smogged yesterday and it passed with flying colors. Has A/C… and clock…electric mirrors. Top is cloth not vinyl.

The Good…the Bad…

The good:
New top
Driver seat redone
15 foot paint job
Brakes redone…all the way including in hoses
New Cat converter
New mufflers

The Bad:
Tranny grinds…
Vacuum hoses need to be replaced
Sniggly lights and switches here and there….
Motor mounts
Suspension mounts
Little rust here and there….
Graduate badges missing on sides and Alfa badge on trunk gone

Just wanted to say hello…. In Pacifica (South of SF)

LIST OF THINGS I NEED: just in case someone has these lying around… :)
Original steering wheel….. crappy Monza on right now
License Plate lights (mine are rusty and only can get one to work
Brake like holder for trunk lid…need new bulb holder too.
Mirror switch
Panel for inside truck that hides canisters
Bulb holder for passenger rear marker light
Front License plate holder

That’s it for now…. PM if you have parts top sell.

Has the badge area on the rear deck been reworked to eliminate said badge, or is the badge simply missing?

If reworked, one might wonder why.
ie: done by PO or bodyshop due to inability to find a badge or just thought it looked better, or, car was wadded up or rotted badly in the rear and someone got the wrong deck lid as a replacement.

Not trying to throw a panic or bash, just asking out of curiosity based on observation.

Hey Darren, not sure on the badge. It is the correct lid as it has the 3rd light in the tail. I can't remember if there is an indentation for the badge or if it is just glued to the lid....

I assume that since they left the "Graduate" badges off the sides, the probably left the badge off the lid so it "looked better"... who knows.

Not neccisarily the correct lid, but yes, the spoiler is correct.
The dual pod S3's had no center brake light and carried the badge in that location instead. The spoiler parts are mounted the same and whole of the lid proper is pretty much exactly the same between the two versions barring whatever goes on for the monopod badge mount AFAIK.

Just to clarify, this is a late S3 with the monopod dash. It is a Graduate, so it has the early S3 seats, in black vinyl and the early S3 door panels. Everything else is the later style.

My car does have the electric mirrors, A/C and a electric clock.

All the connectors are there for the spoiler brake lights along with the license plate lights, so it was not added after.
