Waste of time and money IMO

We need to accept that many of these old interesting names and brands will disappear. Hanging on to them just compromises what that name meant

It is not a waste of time...rather a marketing tour de force and in fact Abarth, the company still exists as an entity of Stellantis. Names like Shelby, Mopar, Carrera, all represent value and FIAT recognized it when they acquired the name which in fact is more than a name tacked on to sunglasses and designer wear. I love the concept of the car even though Carlo Abarth isn't around to touch it. Imagine if the Zagato family sold the name... the name itself carries an immense value.

I guarantee you Jaguar isn't treating the Vanden Plas nameplate with any cavalier position. Someone owns Riley and Wolseley and all the other defunct maker's names .. Like Hudson and Studebacker.and Crosley they have no market value but it costs nothing to retain the names. Abarth on the other hand does.
