Hi All,

I recently changed the head gasket, found nothing untoward other than broken gasket, refitted ran fine. Return spring broken on throttle so decided whilst replacing this I would refurb the carbs (twin weber 40 dcoe). All replaced and all settings back exactly as before. Now it will only run on the back two cylinders, I have checked carbs, both have fuel to same level, all settings as before and as each other. I have checked the spark on all four plugs (plugs out resting on head) all ok. I have checked all leads with a timing light all firing ok. Plugs on front two cylinders are wet with unburnt fuel? Back two plugs nice colour and dry.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Patrick

.........you haven't by chance mixed up leads 1 & 2 ? (you'd get a spark, just not at the right time!)

check your compression if OK then pull the cover and check your intake valve clearance, also since you changed the head gasket make sure your cams are in the right position and not 180 Deg out
