Bought a "new" daily driver today. A 1987 Milano verde, original Southern California car with 72k original miles :D Eveything works, ABS, AC, no Xmas lights, all electrics ok, rust free, good paint, passed smog with a breeze :) Car is completely stock except for yellow Konis and lowering sport springs in the rear. Having only driven RSR sprung Milanos for a while, yellow Konis feel nicely soft and comfy

Only issues are a slight weep from the steering rack and usual ignition switch syndrome :p Nothing major :) A solid daily driver.

Jes,

Have you ever driven a GTV6? They're NOT just a Milano with a different body. Quite fun to drive also. Might want to consider that if you ever get tired of 3 Milanos :)

What is this ignition switch syndrome you speak of? I've never had a problem with mine, or at least I don't think that I have..

I've seen two failure modes:

1. The key will sweep through all settings, but cannot be pulled out of the tumbler (you have to hope nobody sees your key sitting in the ignition when you walk away).

2. The key doesn't spring back from the starting position. When you turn the key, the starter is engaged indefinitely until you pull the key back or the starter motor explodes.

Jes, does that car have cruise control? I got mine working today and I love it. Hope the brackets arrived.

Thanks guys.

Grant, yes I've had a GTV6 - liked it. Though, as a daily driver with child-duties the rear doors are very convenient. And, I like the more modern feel of the Milano. It is an 87, so no cruise control. Yes, got the brackets - THANKS A LOT!

The Euro grill was added by the PO, who also provided the original grill and has taken excellent care of the car.

Well, not quite sure of the plans yet, but I have a number of sets of 17" TD Pro Race 1 wheels sitting around, so a set will probably go on it. Though, I don't think it will be long before I will urge the handling of the RSR, even for a daily driver - it really transform the car - we will see. I expect to go through all bushings, well, at least inspect them. The car feels solid without rattles, squeaks, etc.

DaveH, well it does have a weeping PS rack that I will need to replace in the not too distant future. So, I guess some staining may occur, but it doesn't drip other fluids. I love the super smooth drive-shaft. :)

No, objections from the "committee" since this was the least "painful" of a set of options :D It's a great plot and works every time   :p

The 3.2 is not a daily driver at this point and probably won't be.

I'm glad you finally got them!

The rear springs are aftermarket right?
Do you have any shots of the interior?

Yup, all bracket pieces there ;)

Yes, rear springs are aftermarket - not sure of brand. A tad too low in the back for a daily driver I think.

I'll take some pics of the interior tomorrow. All original with typical wear on drivers seat, other seats are perfect, no broken door handles, good door panels, no cracks in dash.

I'm not sure how much night driving you do, but if the stock Elma's are in there, you may want to find a set of Carrillo's from Europe (Germany). Big improvement in lighting. I found a set from E-bay, and the lights went from drivable on high beams, ALL THE TIME, to outstanding on the lows..

Very nice looks pretty clean from here. I like the rear tail lights (red indicator lens) with the red body. Don't like the orange reflector things on the front bar though, was that standard issue on yankey milano?

Yes, got Euro front headlights on another Milano - a very nice upgrade.

The orange "light" on the side of the front bumper is not a reflector, but a running light, same thing with the red side light on the rear bumper - a US requirement at the time (I think, and may still is?) and standard on all US Milanos. The orange light on the front of the bumper is the turn signal.

Hey Jes,

Nice car didn't take long did it? You live in California as well don't you?

Is that your Audi in the garage?

Keeping this short can't sit for too long my calf muscle and ankle prefer lying down.

Way to go Jes.

After finally driving CChan's GTV6 on the street after the big build, I am convinced that we should change your RSR setup for the street from 125 up front to 100kgs and from 70 down to 50kg at the rear - keep the stock torsion bars!

I am going to drop my street Verde's rates the same way (and I even think that I may remove the 27+mm torsion bars and just go back to stock Verde bars!) PLENTY for the street...

So, I'm a bit curious now...

With Roxanne, and the 3.2 liter car, and maybe another 3.7 liter car....that's like 3 track Milanos right? Will you be selling one perhaps :)

The rear aftermarket springs are way easy to space with a Kragen's spring spacer to get whatever ride height you want. Or, if you lost your Roxanne springs, I have some OEM rear springs if you want them.
