Hi Folks,
The name is Jerry Derham and some of you have met Phyllis and I on past conventions. We currently reside in Brackney, PA. (far northest PA) and drive to Bala Cynwyd for service at Falcone Enterprises just outside Philadelphia. Just bought a house in Rockford outside Grand Rapids and will be moving this Spring with an '85 Spider and '95 164LS. Can you clue me in on some shops?

Well Gordy that's not the half of it. Phyllis went out there and bought the bloody house. I have not yet seen it!! Oh well, the trip to Falcone's was almost 200 miles. Can this be worse? See you in Toronto?

About where is SE Michigan? Any idea of distance to G.R.?

Dean's Trail Auto is, as I recall SW of Detroit, probably about 150 miles from Grand Rapids. I've not been to Roman Tucker's, so could not be certain, but think his shop is a bit closer to GR.

When I lived in Grand Rapids I did most of my own work but there were a couple of shops that one could trust to work on Alfas, both in the G.R area and in Kalamazoo (~40 mi south). I'm not sure what the current situation is as I've been away for ten years or so. Not too many of the WMARO people are on the Board regularly so current references might be a little hard to come by. If you'll PM me I can give you the names of a couple of owners who might be up on the current situation.

IMO, Dean Russell is a super guy and a great resource but he's a good 2-1/2 -3 hour drive away in Dearborn. If you have any serious issues that require a specialist (like, for instance, a timing belt change) with the 164 he'd be a good bet. For more routine stuff, you need someone closer.

Roman Tucker is in Lapeer, MI, another healthy drive to the east side of the state. But he's not a maintenance shop, he's a restoration artist and vintage racer specializing in the care and mantenance of GTA's. Since he's an artist, one may have to wait awhile to see the results of his work. AMHIK.

Anyway, I hope your move to Rockford goes well. We enjoyed our time in West Michigan. There is a small but friendly group of Alfa owners in the area.

Hi Jerry,

Welcome to West Michigan. I'm a new (last spring) Alfa owner doing too much work on this in my garage in Fremont, MI. 45 minutes NW of Rockford. I found a shop in North Muskegon that has worked on mine. By no means a pretty shop but everytime I've been there he has some exotic car on a lift, engine out, over-hauling etc and the price was good even if the time was long. If you need more information, please feel free to contact me.
