Hi
I have a Monti that is need of a serious bit of renovation. I love the idea of doing the job myself but do not have the expertise or for that matter the time. I am based in the southwest of England. Can anyone recommend a reputable outfit down this way with the specialist knowledge needed to undertake the job?

It very much depends on the extent of the work involved. Technically, a Montreal is a 105-series car and therefore your first port of call ought to be Alfaholics in Bristol. However, you might find it more advantageous to farm the engine work out to e.g. 105 Revive as they seem to be building a reputation for this work. There is another guy with a good reputation but his name escapes me! Bodywork is a minefield as panels are not going to be cheap (from commercial sources), but take advice on this. John Holden, of Pure Bodies near Andover (purebodies 'AT' hotmail 'DOT' co 'DOT' uk), might be a good place to start. You may also get some words of advice from the UK Montreal Register, which I am told is a good source of new and used spares. The most comprehensive source of information is Bruce Taylor's amazing website which will reveal most aspects of restoration and maintenance.

Above all, you've just stumbled into the world's best forum for afflicted Alfa owners, so you're in good company ....

PS Photos are almost an obligation around here!

If you have a LHD model, you just despair and give up, and sell it cheap to HeavyMetalAlfa so he can put it to good service somewhere, perhaps as a farm tractor in his pot fields up in Maine.

Welcome to the Montreal forum, Alex's advice is excellent! I think I would start with 105 Revive but this is based purely on their website and emails with Rob. Classic has been great as well for parts, for the most part. Bruce Taylor also has two books and 'Alfa Romeo -Montreal The Essential Companion' really is!
