anyone have a method for removing a cylinder head stud? I have a head that seems to be stuck on one head stud. After a can of penetrating oil, heat and trap bolt method, using a stud extractor all failed to back out stud. The head is loose on all other head studs. I'm at a loss. 3.0L 87 Milano.

What stud remover did you try? Snap-on sells a set that uses a threaded collet ... one for each thread size ... to grab the studs. It holds the stud well enough that it's possible to twist the stud off without damaging the thread.

Before using the stud remover I would treat it with CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust). Short term (days, not months) it will not damage the head or stud, but will attack the deposits.
