Just changing the mechanical fuel pump on the Berlina and noticed the area where the rod acts on the rocker mechanism on the pump is packed with grease.

Is this normal? Going to fit the new one later today so just wondering whether the grease should be packed in there or not. I must admit I have not seen it there before in any of my other cars.

Anyone else seen this?

Cheers.

Hans, correct..the engine side is as you mentined...

It was on the pump itself where the rod contacts the rocker arm that it was packed with grease. Can't say if its factory or someone did later (car has 68k miles, pump is still the original one from what I can tell). Its always hard to ascertain after 46 years.

Cheers.
