How can I trouble shoot a dead Marrelli Plex distributor?
It worked before I rebuilt the engine and now it won't work. It does have 12 volts to the coil. I never removed the coil assembly and wires. I did make the mistake of cranking the engine without the plugs and 12 volts applied. I thought I might have destroyed the GM module, so I replaced the module and still doesn't work.

Check the continuity from the connector that plugs into the coil assembly to the dizzy. It should be a low number of ohms. Otherwise you may have a broken wire or bad pick-up.

It is easy to hook up the complete system on the bench, spin the distributor and see sparks at the plug. Troubleshooting is much easier like this.

Thanks for the input, but what is a dizzy, and please explain in more detail as to how to set it up on the bench. Sparks at what plug and why would you get a spark at an open plug?
Thanks for you help.
