I don't think we'll run out but I speak from experience that they are getting harder to find. More than one i regret parting that were in better shape than what we start with these days...

Was a real bidding war, someone paying a lot more than it is worth?

To recreate it would likely cost as much. Whether it's worth what was paid is far more subjective.

BTW, looking at the auctions that the buyer has won recently is interesting - he's got expensive taste...
