i pulled the carb manifold w/ solex 40's from my 73 berlina to replace carb mounts. i saw a large port mismatch at the head. the carb face measured 38mm, tapering to 31mm at the head. the 2.0 intake ports are 37mm. it seems to be a later manifold w/drop in thermostat. i know that alfa likes to taper the intake runners for flow velocity, but the large mismatch w/ head and gasket looks a bit much. car has columbo intake and euro exhaust cams and 10.4 pistons. do i need to do some port matching before reassembling?

happens to have near my 74 manifold (euro) , a NOS for my project (2000cc). I measured the openings to the carbs and took 40mm exactly in both 4 inlets. I think your manifold was from a 1300 -1600 car?or perhaps from an 1750 if the later didnt use the same manifold like the 2000.
