There are a lot of broken tachometer threads on the BB, but I haven't seen one quite like this. I actually heard my tach break recently. It made a pop noise, then stopped working. I can hear a whirring noise in the gauge when I rev the engine, so I'm assuming that a gear inside the tack is broken or disconnected. Does anyone have an extra one they can sell me (for a 1983)? I'm assuming that I likely wont be able to open , then fix the busted tach. Or have any further advice?

send it in for a rebuild. there are several places around the country well known for gauge repair and restoration.

last year i sent my 84 electric tach in for repair and restoration to Seattle Speedometer. a little spendy, but the work and result is fantastic.
