Folks,

Look after those exterior rear view mirrors as they are almost impossible to repair.

Yesterday I clipped my driver side mirror with my bony hip and it shattered.
I was totally amazed because I did not even feel pain from the contact.
I really did not hit it very hard.

I must have connected it at an awkward but fatal angle.

The black plastic housing shattered.

Fortunately I have three spare units and I was able to replace it after more work than I expected.

Changing the mirror on the driver side is not an easy task.

The exterior A/C temperature sensor cable has a connector out of reach within the dash so I had to leave that in place.

I sanded and repainted the metal parts of a spare exterior mirror unit as they all now tend to be corroded and losing the blackness.

Ta,

Neville.

I didn't know it rained in North Florida!

Someday I have to replace my right mirror on BB1 but I am waiting for cracked outer door handle to break so I can do both at same time.

We will be driving it to New Bern, NC Friday to join up with fellow alfisti for our car club's annual Christmas party.

Your photos prove once again you can't have to many spare parts.

Yes indeed we had more rain this year than I can remember in the eighteen years I have been here in NE FL.

It was only due to rain that I played with my Alfa's instead of continuing the major renovation in progress.....I was glad I was not twenty feet up a ladder.

And for sure my Alfa "warehouse" shed full of parts is paying its way.

Ta,

Neville.
