I am currently in the process of redoing the whole interior of the car and have found out that the way the seats are made is very difficult to do again in terms of time required and skills from the technician. this translates to a big bill coming up. you can change the pattern of the seats but it will not look the same anymore...

Not sure I understand. Are you saying that it is too expensive to have them re-upholstered? Have you come across a company that make seats that may have a similar looking colored leather or vinyl? For example, I kinda like these seats http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/alfa-romeo-cars-sale-wanted/168798-1985-alfa-romeo-gtv6-4-sale.html

I would like to find an off the shelf solution that has a similar looking color.
I think that what Dimitris is saying is that to exactly reproduce the factory pattern would take a technician a lot of time, and as we all know time=$$$.

I have been looking for Recaro seats to replace the stock ones in my '82 and have not had luck, so far. Genuine Recaro seats are retail around $1500 a pair for the low end and then one needs to have the mounting adapters for the GTV6 also.

This is exactly what i meant; the way the stiching is done and the pillows are inserted in the seats in order to have the appearance they have is such a headache for every technician to reproduce. I have tried different samples to avoid the cost but all did not look the same not even close as the original to be honest so i am now doing them as they were originals. it will cost over $2000 but at least will look fantastic. I can post pictures when done hopefully at the end of July.

I have good news for anyone wanting to re-do their interior. Last night I spoke with Matt from Re-Originals, Inc. - Restoration Headquarters - Interior who tells me that he can get me the seats from the original manufacturer in Italy. Per Matt, he can even get them in a Vinyl that looks like leather for less money. He told me that high quality leather (better than original) was about $1,800 and the fake leather was about $900.

Please see below some pictures of the interior of the car as it is now. I had to use flash since the car is not in the open so many details are lost. i am due to get the car tomorrow so if the weather permits i will take some more pictures with sunlight and from close so you can appreciate the work it has been done. i hope you like them!

Dimitris,
as you already stated, details cannot be seen.
But what I see and imagine seems to be perfect.
If the construction (lower side) of the reproduction is as good as originals or better,
it is a goal.
I think some people could be interested to get such a nice repro.
Sadly, there is noone in the world (as I know) who can offer this work, without allocate original seat covers.
I imagine this work is really hard to do. Did your settler made a cut set or a draft of the
peaces, so that he could reproduce them?

Maybe he is interested doing a job for some people out here ?
I personally would be interested and I imagine some others, too.

Thanks for the nice pictures. Feel free to give us some more delight :)

not sure if the technician has made a draft so now he can easily make more or he has to start from scratch again. the truth is that this is a very complicated set of seats for example the sections that make the seats are made individually filled up with and then sew them together. Also the sewing is double so a special machine is required to make the same effect as the original.
will ask the tehnician and come back to you!

Yes, I know, the seats are very complex in their construccion.
The surface is made by serveral different pieces.
This is leather high-tech :)

Here is a graphic, of the construction, as I see them.

btw. on your pics its hard to imagine their real colour.
Is it black or grey.
I think the grey tone is from the light or flash, right?
They should be dark black.
