Looking to purchase some good wires for my '78 Spider, and am thinking of Kingsborne as I've heard some good things about them. Anyone have experience with them?

Any thoughts on wire size? Thinking of the 8mm, which are only a few more dollars than the 7mm.

They offer metal shielded wires as well, for about $40 more per set. Is it worth it or necessary to get the metal shields?

I put them on my Land Rover and they looked/performed well. If I needed wires for the Alfa I'd probably use them. The ones I currently have on the Spider are the red ones (I think from Centerline) which also have looked/performed well. The Alfa plug wires are a straight shot, no snaking around and nowhere near any exhaust manifold heat so they don't get stressed much.

We used to sell Kingsborne wires back in the 70s at BAP/Geon. They were a very cheap quality wire and certainly nothing special. I'm surprised to hear that Kingsborne is still in business, in fact. I sort of lost touch with that world some time ago.

I'd recommend Borg Warner or Bosch. Generally good stuff.

KCAB? Funny, the icon is upside down from its intended attitude.
