Congrate on the wipping Budsy .:D
Yes...it is true....Budsy beat me the last event. Of course it should be of note that.....

1. Budsy is on fresh A6 hoosiers just applied to the car prior to the convention while I am on those same ole used r3 hoosiers I purchased USED last spring...as in spring 06!:D

2. Budsy is dialed in with 3 degrees negative camber....me none...stock control arms.

3. I was hauling my nephew and my son around the track as passengers...along with the roll bar...along with my fat arse.....probably a 250lb disadvantage....while Budsy was running solo and light.

In all honesty...I was surprised I didn't get blown away just considering the tire situation. Now the way this really played out was first run...Budsy considerably faster. 2nd run...he increased his lead. Third run I narrowed it some, Budsy falling off the pace. 4th run I nearly match my best time with his best while Budsy is still off the pace. 5th run I take the lead on best overall time while the Budster is crying in his milk...still well off his best time. 6th run I slightly widen the lead as far as best times...while ole Budsy is out for a Sunday drive and wanting to know if my nephew and son riding with me is giving me some sort of ballast advantage?!:D

Then came the final run. Budsy has gridded himself so that he could run after me and see what I ran.:D I again...with the nephew I am off on a great run. Blew through the course and knocked 4 tenths off my best run. Now comes Budsy....and he pulled it out of his arse and beat me by less than a tenth on his 7th and final run. Now they called a cone on his last run but said it didn't count. They didn't call a cone on my last run...but somehow...I ended up scored with one. Alas...I accept the defeat. We had a really good time that day. Great close competition where we are trading the lead back and forth is the best. Its no fun to get blown out all the time or to blow someone out all the time. The aire of uncertainty in outcome is what makes it so much fun!:D Now ole George beat the snot out of us again...but Budsy seems to think that he can "reach out and touch George." I'll believe that when I see it!

Now how the times actually played out:

............1st......2nd......3rd......4th.....5th.....6th.....7th
Budsy....36.506 35.874 36.504 36.250 36.478 36.221 35.339
John......37.095 37.037 36.574 35.973 35.826 35.815 35.425+1
Diff........+0.589 +1.163 +0.070 -0.277 -0.652 -0.406 +0.086

Oooh... I was wondering what happened with the "baby seal meat" driver! :D Will there be another autocross or is this it until next season?

Murray - aren't you glad you didn't bet, or that we don't have a "standing bet"? :D

Best regards,
Hi Enrique,

We have an event this Sunday. See course map below. C'mon down if you're in the area. The last event of the season is a fun event sometime in October at the baseball stadium lot just off of I-75 (check the CKR SCCA website for exact date).

Yes I am, I'll have to make sure old John has new tires before I bet on him again!

Oh - how I wish I was in the area! I'm in NJ these days, so I won't be able to make it, and this Saturday we'll be going on the NJ AROC Fall Tour... I'll check the web site for sure, and see if I can make it down there one more time before the season is out... Having run in a couple of the Lexington events made a huge difference in my very limited autox experience. Your course design is superb, George. I say this because I really feel that it made a noticeable difference in improving my driving skills. :)

I don't think it's going to help... This winter we should be completing the Megasquirt project, and I promised Budsy that I would share the set-up with him. John will be "baby seal meat"! :D :D

Best regards,
I've been tweeking the old Spider all week and have some surprizes for old Johnny M+ that I think will really intimidate him. I'd say old Johnny will be seal meat this weekend too. Funny thing, all good runs he did last weekend were with his young nephews and son in the car. Surprisingly, those were his fastest runs! Now that means the extra weight was either ballast or maybe the boys had their hands in to help drive the car on those runs! hmmmm...... probably so!:D
Bwa HA HA HA HA.....BWAAA HAA HAA HAA HAA I'll get you my Budsy...you and your little Toto..aka Enrique...too!!!!

Speaking of surprises...you are going to feel like its your birthday, christmas, and Halloween all rolled up into one. I got your surprises right here!!!!! Oh baby.

And Enrique...come this winter...I am going to redo the entire front and rear suspension. You better get a jet engine to drop into Bud's car if you are planning on him keeping up with me next spring!!!!:D

Best Regards,
John M

Oh, this is sad - Murray has the best of the Spiders and now he's wanting to go back to go-karts! This is what happens when you count on "baby seal meat"! :D Ok John, for Murray's sake, I'll come down this winter to make sure you stay focused and have a car ready sooner than the night before the convention. ;)

Best regards,
Oh Enrique,

I have proven that it takes more than a hot car to win races. I say John will show Old Budsy his true colors in this next race.................Our usual wager for this next event?

Usual wager sounds fine, but are you talking the very next event, which is this Sunday? (I won't be there this Sunday for sure.) Or are you talking after the winter, so John has time to build his courage..., I mean his suspension that will require "a jet engine ... if ... planning on keeping up with (him)"?

Best regards,

Rut Roe Shaggy....Johnny has his new rubber on...Even though they are Rs
...and Johnny going to try some alignment changes. Remember...Budsy was on new A6 hoosiers and only beat Johnny by 0.1 sec with Johnny on 2 year old used r hoosiers with toe in:eek: and no negative camber:eek: and no positive caster:eek:. BWA HA HA HA. I sure hope those changes I made work!

You know Enrique...you'd make some fine baby seal meat for both me and Bud. How come you too scared to come play with us? Why don't you hop in that black "fast" spider of yours with its cutesy lil' trailer and its wheels mounted so pretty with that fancy dancy roll bar and come on down here to KY and let us have you with ****tail sauce, some fava beans, and a nice chianti!:D:D:D

Best Regards,

Guys, I got to admit, the suspense and trash talk is killing me. ;) I don't think I can wait until the next episode of Budsy vs. Big John next season! ;) This is big-time entertainment, Enrique! Coming to an autox course near you!

It all makes me want to bolt on a set of Hoosiers, belt up into my chipped '91, and blow their ever-lovin' doors off.

In the rain.:)

As my old ex-father-in-law, JO Spencer of Wolfe County KY, used to say, "There might be snow on the rooftop, but there's a fire in the furnace!"

You're too funny, John. I showed this Karyl (big fan of "Silence") and she couldn't stop laughing! I'm nowhere near being able to play in the same field, but I've got a Panama hat (OEM for bullfights :D) that I'm sure will be just fine, for when my skills get up there!

Good luck today - and don't rack up too many "style points", like the guy below. :D:D

Wow! That's some case of lift-throttle oversteer!

I never knew an Alfa Spider could be made to handle like an old 911!;)
Ohh ya I remember that, John and i were the only two cars in the last timed run at the Detroit TT. John was behind me in the grid barking like a seal and clapping his hands over his head yelling that I was baby seal meat

When Old John got on the track and saw that I was within catching distance and he just went nuts trying to catch me, he would of too if he didn't spin out 3 times. :D:D

He reminded me of Bruce (the big shark) in Nemo when he caught a wiff of some fish blood and just went nuts trying to catch Nemo's dad and Dorey. :D:D
