i had some 'play in my steering system.
.just aft of the steering wheel... where the steering shaft and the outer housing is...so i looked around for a bronze bearing/bushing.. could not find any close to what i needed, so i looked aound ace hardware store for anything that might be close..bubble gum...dust bunnys..nope..nada.. went to the plumming section. and found a white pastic thinge that had the right inside and outside diameter...trimed a wee bit off it. and pressed it into the outer shaft.. fit perfectly.. no more play. nice and smooth.... a question.. what is that spring and slim steel bush doing there?
