The front exhaust pipe/cat converter has shot craps on my '82 Spider. I have been chasing cracks for a couple of months now. I decided to pull the muffler and, yep, the honey comb is falling apart in the cat.

I have a 70-74 2 piece ex manifold that's in nice shape. Since a cat converter is not required on a 25 year old car in the jungles of Mississippi I'm thinking of putting on the early manifolds and and getting a front pipe to match the manifolds.

I know I'll have to weld in a bung for the O2 sensor and weld on a flange so the front pipe will mate to the muffler. Any other got cha's?

Is it worth the trouble to change the exhaust over? Any benefits other than the front pipe from Centerline is less than half the price of the conveter.

FWIW I don't mind that removing the cat will ravage the earth and we will all die.

Will make a noticable performance increase...especially if you have done other modifications. Definitely a worthy upgrade.
