Running short errands - 5 + miles. Park, turn off engine. Come back within just a few minutes, car won't start. All other electrics (gauges, radio, etc.) are okay. I wait, fuming, for a few minutes, then car starts. When problem first occurred I replaced the starter and solenoid. $250 later, same problem. If the errand takes longer than say, 10 minutes, car starts fine. Should starting be a constant adventure? Any thoughts appreciated.

A relay for the starting circuit will take a lot of the electrical load off the relatively expensive ignition switch. And doing so will send more electrons to the starter solenoid.

It is also vital that all electrical connections in the battery to starter circuit be clean & tight. Don't assume - clean & secure each one, including & especially the ground connections. I like to add a smear of dielectric grease (aka tune-up grease) to the cleaned connectors before re-assembly. That helps to stave off corrosion - the bane of good electrical flow.
