Is the interior mirror of a 2000 GTV identical to that on other models?

I'm trying to locate a used one to replace my original cracked one and need advice as I often have to buy without first seeing all details........

I believe many earlier - pre-1969 cars had metal mirror casings, and later models had plastic casings.

Both of my 105 GTV's are the same year - 1967.
The casing of the mirror in one of my cars is metal, with a plastic lip to hold the mirror in. It of course has withstood the test of time perfectly.
The mirror in my other car has a plastic casing, which has of course warped considerably in the Australian sun. This appears to be the second plastic mirror for this car, as I found another in the boot (trunk) that has suffered the same fate.

If anyone knows where to get spares, I'd appreciate it too.

Cheers,

My 1971 GTV 1750 has the plastic cassing for the interior review mirror.

In my case, the glass and reflective mirror back have passed their prime and I would be curious to know if people have had success in dismantling the unit and having new glass and mirror cut to size.

cheers,

Blair

Hi JosephM.

In my experience there a couple of variations.
The mirrors (in cross section) can be flat, or triangular. This depends on the 'dipping mechanism'.

The best way to fix the mirrorwould be:

a) Pull it apart, this will take all of 10 seconds, and
b) Take to an automotive glass supplier. They will make a new mirror, and perhaps charge you $15.

Regards,

Ian

I've just found one on eBay Italy, not in terrible condition either! Hope this helps.

Can we bring this one up again? I know about Larry at APE but does anyone know of another source besides ebay for a inside rearview mirror for a 105? Anyone have an extra lying around? I think a Berlina will work as well? Not sure about the later.

Mirror replacement

Since this thread started the plastic mirror found in the 2000GTV has been re manufactured and is available from Classic Alfa in GB. Very nice reproduction and is only missing the original makers name that was originally cast in the back.
I searched for a secondhand one for a long time but they all crack the plastic housing.

I've got a few good used ones with 2 litre style mounts. I'll post them once I get them cleaned up.
