Is it so that the construction should be this bad?
There is some kind of inner fender in plastic with a rubber seal, but it does not reach the outer fender at all. This means it collects dirt like no construction I have seen before. There was some rests of body sealer in the bottom, but what have you guys done?
For sure I will spray some Dinitrol or similar in there, but apart from that I do not know.
Nice to see that its no corrosion here at all so far, and no weldings.

If that inner shield is plastic it is not original, but this was early days for this sort of protection so a gap like you are showing is probably only because the rubber seal has shrunk or it never reached.

I suggestion finding a rubber seal that reaches and fit that, but note that at the top there will still be gaps so dirt will and does continue to be caught behind.

Modern cars are much better in this area.

I strongly suggest that you remove the panels, they're held by a few screws,
And give the area a thorough clean, specially the bottom as there could be a lot of dirt trapped there blocking the sill's drain holes.
