NOTE/Caution There is/was only one hole of the 8 in top of pump mount (black rubber bushing) item 12 for black soda straw item 27 in pix in link below that is drilled all the way through. Hopefully you pick the right one where working on fuel pump in 164 gas tank.

I added this Note to my posts on fuel pump and fuel tank.

Sorry I left that info out and shop manual does not mention it either. Nobody is purfict (perfect) are we?

Don't worry about it even if you didn't have a straw to plug into hole or if you may have plugged it into a hole that wasn't a hole all the way through though.

Not sure any ill effect will be evident either way. Just another little tidbit left out of manual.

So what happens if you don't have the soda straw?
Can you buy that pad anywhere? We couldn't get one for my brother's car when we bought a new pump from one of our excellent Alfa parts shops. He could do with a new one because the old one was all soft and squishy and probably isn't attached any more.
