So, i've had this noise on the right hand front going over bumps for a while, sounded almost like the bumper was loose... couldn't figure it out till I was preparing the front bumper for my 164's trip to the panel shop on monday night - the inner guard is being hit by the driveshaft on full bump (*This also explains the polished marks on the driveshaft I'd noticed but couldn't see anything for it to rub on...)
Anyone else encountered this? Stock 164Q suspension. I didn't get the chance to do anything about it, but will be having a closer look when I get the car back - I suspect I'll resort to chopping the plastic guard for clearance.

Ok, so I'm not alone in having found this, nice.
Of course, every time i noticed the polished bits on the driveshaft, I had the inner guards out for access...

Driveshaft polished marks!

So that is what causes the polished marks on the driveshafts!!!
I always noticed it but never gave it much thought.
