Hi
I am rebuilding my engine. Do I need to put back that hard plastic and 2 paper gaskets or can I just use one thick paper gasket? What does the hard plastic one do? I bought a vrs set from eb spares in the UK.

I need to get it all done on Saturday, the wife is giving me the hurry up lecture too much.

Cheers Shane

Those are phenolic spacers. The Alfa manual refers to them differently, but that's what they are. They help keep the intake plenum cooler (and thus the intake air charge).

Thick paper gaskek won't do. The plenum will act like a heat sink without them and more than likely, if you eliminate them the tubes will not line-up with the plenum anyway...

I have upgraded the tubes on the planum chamber to silicon and the opening for the spacesbis smaller than the ports. Would you still run them?

Cheers
