When I removed the in tank fuel pump on my 86 to replace the filter, there wasn't a filter there. I assume there is suppose to be and that the PO somewhere along the line left it off. My question is, does the filter just press fit on or is there more to it than that? It doesn't feel like a real positive press on fit to me.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you orientate things so the float is to the side, not the front or rear.

Otherwise every time you stop or go, the fuel gauge will be moving all over the place, and the low fuel light will be annoying you.

Understood. Actually what I did was to put a line across the mounting ring and the tank so I could just line it back up. It's back together and working well.
Thanks again.
