Searches here show that importing a vintage (pre-74) car from Canada to the US is pretty easy and cheap as far as the border (customs, EPA, DOT) is concerned. There was at least one suggestion that the problem is driving the car to the border once purchased. Is it necessary to do a whole transaction to get title and registration through Canadian "DMV" before driving the car or is a bill of sale sufficient for driving and export/importation? Could the seller bring the car across and do the purchase in the US, or is that smuggling?
