I have a 1974 spider that i saved from the crusher.
the last owner cut a lot of wires out and switches, i printed the wire diagram from this sit and it is helping me alot.

but i broke a relay thing and have no clue what it is or where to get a new one.

The part was mounted under the glove box at end of wire harness ,
It says bosch Germany and something in German.

i have ben looking at the 11501 2000 GT Veloce 1974 Electrical Diagram created by site member Papajam.
I think on that diagram there is a box that matches my mystery box ,labeled
seat belt interlock,
MY spider plate says it was born in 7/74 could it have had this inter lock?
now i am just relay confused because none of the spider diagrams I have looked at have this thing.

If i don't need it ,i don't want it ,but since i broke it my car will not start.
any ideas on why my car would have this ?

Your best bet is to take the broken relay to a parts house and see if they can match it with a new one. You'll probably find that the realy is shared with a number of other cars.

From your description, it does indeed sound like the seatbelt interlock device. Seatbelt interlocks were mandated by Federal regulations for all vehicles sold in the US for the 1974 model year. In early 1975 however, this mandate was recended and the interlocks were allowed to be bypassed. According to an Alfa issued technical service bulletin, connecting wire number 10 to wire number 13 will bypass the device. If your device is broken, it's replacement is not necessary. Just connect wires 10 and 13 together.
