Guys,
does anyone remember any links to advice on changing the timing belt on my '89 12v 164.
or even if you can offer any advice on this job....anything is good .

Umm...hav'nt gone in just yet, so I can't answer this 'til next week.....how does this effect the job...other than the release of the tensioner that is.....

KNOWING what style tensioner is important to know because if oil fed type and leaking you will need a seal kit and possibly new pulley bearing OR mechanical tensioner conversion set up. If mechanical you will need to verify condition of it and if either spring is broken.

Also you need to do some searching on doing belt and tensioner as well as water pump change if that is needed because you need to do it with timing belt off.

You need to verify whether cam pulleys leaking oil as you may need to change orings in pulley hubs and shaft seals if they are leaking.
