Hello

The engine of my 75 v6 3.0 '88 has a strange behaviour. With the engine in neutral i push the gas and the engine increase the rpm, when i release the gas the engine decrease the rpm but near the idle rpm the engine has difficulty to stay idle and if i don't hit the gas the engine shuts down.
Normally the engine stay in idle very good.

Where do you suggest to start the investigations?
Thank you
Michele

Dear Alfisti

i checked the TPS and it works (using the voltmeter i check the contacts between the 3 pins) and the idle rpm is around 900.
the TPS switch works just before the throttle stop (as described in the guide) let me say 0.5mm (or less) from the throttle stop. Could be enough? or the switch must works some millimeter from the throttle?

I not checked the fuel pomp yet.

thanks
michele

Well, that all sounds right. You should probably also check everywhere for air leaks, especially the big rubber hose across the engine.

I guess you should probably check to make sure the VVT plunger isn't sticking. If it sticks in the engaged mode you'll get a really rough idle that'll want to stall.
