just a guess, but could the wires for the fuel gauge (violet) and low fuel light (black/white) be mixed up, so the gauge reads wrong and the light is on continuously?
(check them against the photo in post #2 above)

otherwise to turn off the low fuel light (before it blows and then you have to get into the instrument to replace the bulb!), just pull the black/white wire off the tank sender (and tape it up)

If it makes you feel better the factory replacement fuel senders never came with the fuel pump on it.

but the factory fuel pump bracket fits right back on the original factory sender:)

it is just the way the sender is soldered to the shaft that is the incorrect thing on the aftermarket ones....just no need for it

I was referencing more the hardware like screws, boy and bolt, clamp etc. e.g you buy $68.00 lights that require 20 certain size screws, and no screws come with the parts.
