Other than counting revolutions, is there an external way to tell if the LSD axle in my 89 Spider is a proper 4.10? It was replaced at some point in the past (likely with an APE unit) and I'm wondering if it might be a 4.55. Thanks

I have a 4.10 that I'm waiting to install to replace my 4.56 and I don't see any visible differences. Without counting the revolutions, I don't think there is any way.

Well, you can always drain it, remove the bottom plate and rotate the wheel until you see the stamping on the ring gear: 41/9 = 4.55, 41/10 = 4.10. You'll have to wipe the oil off the ring gear as you rotate it, it's pretty hard to see.
