I have searched the forums looking for Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 production numbers, I'm sorry to bring this up again for the billionth time.

To be a little more specific I'm not interested in Milano 3.0 V6, I believe I can remeber reading that there were 883 produced so I don't need to know that. What I am interested in is if anyone has any info on the amount of 75 3.0 V6s that were imported to Australia if that is even possible. If it's not total production would still be great. I recall seeing something about all the 3.0 V6 75's which included the Milano Verde in the world and I think total production came to 9500 total from 87-92. Now say that 880 of the 9500 are Verdes, that leaves around 8600 75 3.0 V6s. If I divide 8600 by 5 (produced for 5 years from 87-92) that gives me about 1700 alfa 75 3.0 V6 made each year. I'm sure it wouldn't work like that as they probably sold the bulk of them in the first few years but anyway.

Does somebody know of approximate numbers or can I only assume there were about 8600 75 3.0 V6's in the world?

I guess I should also tell why I am so desperate to know these figures. With the renewal of my insurance I noticed a few "errors" on my insurance policy so my father called the insurance company to find out what the deal was (I haven't had a chance to call as I work 9-5 every day) Dad basically ended up arguing over the agreed value of my car and didn't get far. The person who dad was talking to on the phone basically said that 75 3.0 V6s were a dime a dozen, in other words he was saying that they are a very common car. I am going to call them myself this week and i would at least like to know what the approx production total was so I can get a bit of leverage over them. I can't tell you how much my blood is boiling at this point.

Please feel free to comment, Please!

On another topic, it would be amusing to read if anyone else has had any drama's due to know it all insuarce agencies.

Having said that, dime a dozen? Hahaha. There's probably a maximum 20 or so 75s (2.5, 3.0, 2.0) for sale in all of Australia at any one time. Maybe five 3.0Ls if you were lucky.

I know! I almost choked on my spit when dad mentioned that. If you look on carsales.com.au there are 10 75's for sale, only two with 3 litre engines and both have high km's

I should also mention that Shannons is the insurance company I am talking about. They claim to be the insurance company for enthusiasts but they won't have any left if they go on like this.

very interesting info tho, ive always wondered how many 3ltr 75's were made, as there doesn't seem to be many still on the road now

Thanks for your input realdriver, that's the most I've ever read about 75 production numbers. So it seems the the 9600 number is about right, It is just breaking it down into each model. I wonder which model my 75 would fall under.

hmmm, confusing... if i have an aus 3.0 from june 88, anyone know where that would fall?? Grey grille, orange instruments, white markings around the a/c vent adjustors. Mechanic said series 2.

G'Day Brian,

June 88 should be a series 1, the change was sep/oct 88.

Is the grill slatted (series 1) or honeycomb (series 2).
Is the rear reflector orange (series 1) or red (series 2). Not conclusive as some series 2 seem to have orange perhaps because of car colour.
Steering wheel, big round horn button (series 1).

I don't think any of this applies to the Milano.

Hi Craig, thanks for the input,
mine has the other steering wheel(no round horn) same grille and the orange boot reflector, but red skirts and has the little wing thing on the boot. also, mine has the orange instrument panel and all the buttons and stalks are orange?? any other deciding factors? no abs, i have the full history of the car so i know the steering wheel wasnt changed.
the mechanic was surprised that it didnt have the red grille.
Maybe i can show you sometime as i have no pics. I heard you are in the same suburb as me. PM if you're interested.

Yes it is very complicated. These numbers were sent "as is" without any kind of instructions to the owner of a french Alfa site.

You can see the numbers sprouting out in other publications and books, so I suppose that they're the definitive data.

But I still don't understand some of the details. Some years overlap for example.

It would appear its not just oz that had hybrid cars! I had what i thought was a series one 3ltr,(registered 88) grey grill, orange dials etc but it didn't have the round horn steering wheel! none of my cars did!
my current 3ltr is registered 89, it has white controls/dials etc, honeycome grille, red reflectors etc!
Whatever parts are available for the production line at the time of assembly??

I use them for a couple of cars, one of which is my 1975 "Fetta (build date 12/74...one of the early 1.8's). The guy from Shannons knew what it was, wanted to know all about it, never even blinked at the agreed value I wanted to put on it ($6,000) and the rate they charged for full coverage was very reasonable (I'm an old fart though, maybe that makes a difference). I know a guy with a number of hot rods, has 6 insured with Shannons, when he went to insure his road car (#7), they covered him for free! Really surprised to hear that your experience with them was unsatisfactory. Oh, I am in no way affiliated with Shannons except for being a customer.

What I am, though, is a big fan of the 75. I built and raced a 3.0 Milano when I lived in the USA; that car put the wind up many "faster" cars on a regular basis. Got any more pics of yours?

I for one wouldn't classify the cars the way most do.

IMHO I don't think that the change between the slatted grey grill and the color coded one warrants a series swap from 1 to 2.

The very first cars ('85-'87) had carbs, no bodykit or spoiler (apart from the Turbo Evoluzione), a two tone interior (lower half of the dash is lightish grey), the round boss steering wheel. I would say that these cars are the first series.

In '87, there were many changes. There was the introduction of the 2L TS and 3.0 V6, which both received bodykits and the small spoiler. The wing mirrors changed (except for Milanos it seems. Although Verdes get the new mirrors). Wheel designs changed. The steering wheel changed. The interior is now dark grey. No more carburettors. '87 really is a year where A LOT of things changed on the cars. I would say that these cars are the second series (and not the first as everybody calls them).

In '89, the cars received the color coded grill, red rear lights and white instrument markings. I can't see this as being a bigger evolution step as the one made in '87. I like to call these series 2 1/2 or maybe series 3.

I am talking 75 evolution and not Milanos here as it seems that Milanos disn't always receive the changes that 75s got.

I'm sure it's just the Tasmanian Branch of Shannos that is full of twits. They told my father that 75 3.0 V6's were a dime a dozen (those were the exact words) I have talked to some nice guys from shannons but over the phone I've had nothing but trouble. As it turns out they raised my agreed value slighlty and reduced my premiums ever so slightly which is better than nothing. If I can get my car insured by another company for what it is worth than I will go there. Shannons have a very good name and a sticker on mywindshield is usually enough to make bystanders acknowledge that it must be "rare." I guess one of eighty could be considered rare! I will get some pics up of it for you although they are old as they may still have "P" plates on the winshield.
