Folks, In case you are interested I just listed the car as a Parts Car in another thread. If you or anyone you know wants a pretty good parts car for cheap, I'm only looking for $2,000, which includes some extra heads, a block, other engine parts.

Good luck to all! Seems like driving an alfa was not in the cards for me, hopefully someone can take my car and make some good use out of it, or part it out.

Adrian,

I applaud your openness. However, your car may NOT be 1486 129. It may be a later car with a grafted-in firewall piece. You could have a stolen car, and are now trying to resell it.

I encourage caution.

What about the trunk VIN stamped near middle of trunk floor beside fuel tank?

Guys thank you so much for your insight and details. I went for a brown 1979, picked it up from a guy in CT and was able to have it inspected by my mechanic which is a pretty knowledgeable alfa specialist (Col-Gen Motors). It is getting deliver today ???

Glad to see you bought an Alfa Spider! You'll love driving her - these are awesome cars. My recommendation is to have all maintenance brought up to date - you can do it yourself or hire someone, but make sure they know Alfa's!

The good thing is that you got a nice looking S2 that has the four throttle plates - the 1980 has a single.

I own a twin to yours, except mine is a 1980. Would've been much better if it was a 1979 or older, but that was my second Spider purchase and I've learned so much since then.

This is an awesome site for you to ask questions, get secret tips (with Alfa's, there's a lot of them), share your success (and failure) but most importantly, to engage with us, the ones who love our cars!

Congratulations and enjoy!
