My 1975 Alfetta Sport Sedan is a bit too noisy to enjoy my old cassettes on long trips. I have wired a Jack in parallel to the radio speakers, but of course I need to turn the volume way down to get the correct volume through the earphones.

I recall doing this in my youth with a resistor bridge. Does anyone know the resistor values to use?

TIA
Larry

driveing with headphones is illegal in most states, so keep that in mind..of course believe it or not so are sunglasses that are not prescription LOL

if you have a preamp out you can tap into that for a more reasonable volume

I appreciate all your opinions. By the way, the internet IS a wonderful place. I tried a general search again and found some has uploaded an online calculator to produce just what I need.

Never fear, I’ll use those transducers that transmit the sounds directly to the auditory brain stem without blocking any ambient traffic sounds.

A clunky radio? True, but it plays old custom road trip tapes on luxury-car (Alfetta) journeys. Preamp out is a good suggestion, but none here, alas.
