Hi,
I have an original tape player. Broken unfortunately (lcd display is bleeding).
This is what it looks like (someone else's pic, but mines the same):

I have heard that with other radios, you use a key down the side of the headset.
This one however doesn't seem to have any gaps. If I jostle the tape deck from behind the tape hole moves while the squares surrounding the knobs stay perfectly attached to the center console.

Any tips. Its an emergency: I have a 9 hour drive tomorrow!

:) thanks in advance

looks old school. pull the knobs off and there should be a couple of small nuts behind them that will let you slip it out the back easy enough

Did this on my Sud many years ago. If I remember correctly, the steps are:
  1. Pull off both dials
  2. Pull off both inner dials (under the ones you just pulled off)
  3. should be a thin nut under these, unscrew
  4. metal faceplate should now come off
  5. a single screw on either side should be all that is left

That should be it.

cheers
Scott
