How does the Lucas Regulator set on the inner fender

I just started putting the wiring in my 1960 spider. It is a normale and has the Lucas regulator. My question: how does the regulator set on the inner fender? terminals up or terminals down. I was looking at photos and it appears that most of the lucas set ups have the terminals down which makes sense to me. However, my hood hits the the regulator when I have it in this position. I have not flipped it over yet because the new lucas reg. I bought has spades instead on placing the wires in the screw slots like the original. With that said the two regulators are the same in size and where the hole mounts are.

thanks!

I've never seen one where the terminals go up. Are you sure that you have the right holes? No offense intended with that question.
Giulietta Lucas regulator

Todd, the Lucas regulator always has the terminal facing down.

That's a tidy engine compartment. Is your brake fluid reservoir rebuilt or a replacement? Sorry, I'm not trying to high jack this thread.
The brake canister in this car is a repaint with a new sticker, However I have been quite happy with the repro brake can that comes with the Lucas sticker for other cars that I have.
Last one I bought was from Victoria British for a Healey and it looks great. Moss also has the same unit with the sticker already on it, probably from the same manufacturer.
No offense taken..I tested fitted the regulator tonight and got the balls to close the hood hard and it fit!

Thanks

Dave thanks, as you know my car was all apart when I got it so trying to figure the schematics of where and how everything goes. Is the battle ship grey car original wiring? I have a new wiring harness from Lionel.
Thanks.
The wiring harness is new but follows the original layout and location components. DB
Thanks Dave and good luck with your project, HUD.

The proper way to close the hood on a SPIDER is to drop it from 8 to 9.5inches from the opening. It all depends how much featherfill is under the surface of the finish coat. These are not Porsches. Pushing will deform your hood. ... and BTW balls are good. Test fitting if in doubt, should be done with Playdough and the latch and safety latch removed from the hood.. Keep firing .. I'm hot!
