When I sent my '73 Spider off to final body and paint, I removed all the rubber gaskets and grommets, but unfortunately some of them, including the trunk/boot gasket and cowl gasket, had some over-spray from some cheap repair work done years ago by a PO.

Since both the Trunk/ boot and cowl gaskets are in really good condition, I'd like to reuse them, but not if I can't remove the old over-spray. I've tried acetone which doesn't do much, so I'm looking for suggestions. Any ideas are very welcome.

Best regards,

cleaning rubber

Yes, that will work but make sure that you wear gloves and get some silicone paste to rub into the rubber afterwards to keep it supple and soft. The laquer thinner will dry out the rubber

Thanks, Rick
