I got it all disconnected and ready to rebuild but I don't see a cir-clip on the end. Do I have to separate the spring and connecting arm off the body and it is actually inside?

I'd suggest that you send that cylinder to White Post Restorations; have it bored, brass sleeved, rebuilt and never have to worry about it again. The cast iron will eventually develop rust and pits that eat away the rubber seals.
