Simon it's cool...I personally think AlfaBB is a great site. :D

That whole thing is so long gone anyway...who cares. Bottomline is you all put together a great resource for us Alfa nerds.

I am an avid Digest reader and contributor. It's a terrific forum. The collective knowledge there is amazing. The digest is still going strong and isn't going away.

My main sources of info and entertainment are The Alfa Digest and AlfaBB. The are somewhat different but equally as important.

I dig 'em both.

The Digest is definitely a great online resource for Alfisti. The only thing is that all members emails are exposed everywhere and on all of their archive pages as well. By having emails exposed on the web like that is a for sure guarantee that you will get SPAM as long as they remain exposed. I think allot of the Digest members frustrations are from this exact reason. What I did was add a cherry on top of an already existing problem.

The AlfaBB is set up a bit different in that we have our own PM system or use of form mail thru the site so no emails are exposed unless they are given out or posted by the owner of the email.

At the time of the original mailing I thought it was a bright idea. Boy was I wrong. Once again I’m sorry to those who got upset.

The finding of the AlfaBB

Hi there,

I found the site after buying a 84 Spider (originally US delivery) insted of buying the bread and milk I originally went out for :D

Started looking on the web to be able to buy spares and upgrades, as here in Oz it is not as easy to get parts (genuine or not) for a former US delivery car (I am only the 3rd owner of the car). I subscribe to both the AlfaDigest and here - both are great in there own differing style ;)

Likewise, I was Googling around on topics only certified Alfisti would be interested in and got a hit on Alfa.BB. I knew about the Digest first and still go there as they have a first-rate technical forum on 164's.

Must say I like the BB's general format better - it's LIVELY (just stay out of the cross-fire).

General -

I especially enjoy watching you go off on BMW's. I hate 'em too - if I hear the expression "precision German engineering" one more time! I had a VW GTI once - it was ok, but antiseptic and really no more or less reliable than any other car I've owned. I guess it's in the attitude mostly - when I meet a BMW guy I always say "BMW? That stands for "Box Mounted on Wheels" doesn't it?". It knocks them down a peg or two, and of course I'm conversant in Alfa Romeo and Ferrari racing history if they want to go into an engineering discussion!

Scunitz, a man after my own heart!!!!! God bless you, your entire family, the people you love, the people you work for and with, and all that is precious in your universe. Box Mounted on Wheels!! I love it. Don't forget Big Money Waste!!!
By the way, how did you like this testosterone boy racea911. What a pretender!! Oh, I'd like to buy an Alfa. What a crock of *hit!! I should go on a Porsche site with a name like "raceagtv" and propogate the same crap, Oh I'd like to buy a 911, blah, blah, blah. Thanks for stepping up and speaking the truth. Are you listening Jorgen, my new good buddy!!

I find it amusing that people have a problem with this Alfa vs. BMW thing I have. In America, you're either a bow tie guy or you like Fords. If you're a Ranger fan, you hate the Islanders. If you're a Yankee fan, you hate the Mets. People, get in touch with your emotions and stop all this politically correct crap!!! Vent your anger and you shall be emancipated!!!!!!!!!! Sanctify yourself, set yourself free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

General,

Man you just don’t know when to quit! Once again you are hi-jacking a thread that has nothing to do with BMW's, PORSCHES, or your dislikes of other BB members. Yes I have read your PM's to your new buddy Jorgen and must say you are definitely going out of your way to stir the pot. Consider this your second warning to stop any remarks pointed toward other BB members.

I do believe in FREEDOM OF SPEACH, which is the only reason that I have allowed your ramblings to go as long as they have. If I had to choose between a BB member who owns an Alfa and insults others on a regular basis or a BMW-PORSCHE owner who is pleasant to chat with I'll choose the later every time.

FYI- I have never had a Alfa Romeo and am waiting to get one and currently drive a 911. Does this make me a bad person as well?

Lets keep the threads on topic and enjoy the conversations.
