A nice guy. I met him at Knauz's and later bought some performance stuff for my Giulia Spider from his shop in Libertyville Illinois. At one of the Trans Am races at Mid-Ohio, he was ahead of the Datsuns and continued to a very big lead before the car broke. I asked him why he kept pushing so hard when backing off just a little might have made the car last to the end. His reply: "Well mate, you have to let them know you are here".
Great Horst Kwech quote from Carroll Smith's Prepare to win:
"We're all a bunch of mugs! We work twenty-four hours a day, don't eat; we don't sleep and we spend all of our money just so we can go out again next Sunday and break the damned car."
—Horst Kwech, circa 1970
I noticed there is a Alfas at the Glen 2020 event from Sept. 10-13 listed at MotorsportReg. It is a year away, but I hope this event does take place!
Is anyone familiar with this event and know if there will be track time offered?
KMW Motorsports will be back in IMSA for the 2020 season!
Hopefully Risi Competizione will be back in the SRO Motorsports America TC America series...
I just found this pictures of a "Phoenix" powered by an Alfa Romeo engine
