As long as the fit between the pieces provides adequate surface contact I don't see why not.

My first choice would be 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive, black or yellow (both kinds come in a tube).

But if you have a commercial auto paint/body shop supply distributor in your area, the guy behind the counter may be able to recommend a better product for your specific application.

I would agree that you could glue them. Clean the surfaces very well and perhaps try body panel adhesive which is available at paint and body supply stores.
