Does anyone have any information on adjusting the tappets on this model 33. Ive heard they are the Shim  type? and are very difficult to adjust.
Does anyone have a rough idea of what this might cost for a mechanic to adjust them?

ive never done it myself but apparently its not to hard - i think a special tool is involved (from memory it can be made) - you should get a copy of the haynes sud manual (ebay) as it describes the process... not sure about price but id imagine a couple of hundred or less...id be suprised if it was more

i believe alfa recommends check and adjustment every 15,000km!

Yes, shims. Hardest part is measuring the little buggers. I removed mine with a long flat screwdriver & a set of needle nose pliers. Mounted in an appropriate place, it serves well as the special tool.

If you need shims, they're only a couple of $ each from a good Alfa supplier.
