Heater blower motor replacement?

1553 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Matthew K
The one in my car does not work, and I tried to pull one from a car in the junkyard today, and even after looking at the service manual I couldnt even come close to figuring out how to get it out. I kinda think I dont care quite that much if it works or not, but it may be easier than it looks. lol Also, how do you remove a steering wheel? I tried to do it with a normal puller and it just pulled the threads out of the holes in the steering wheel.

It depends upon the year of the car. If it is an S2 spider without AC then it is not too bad. The heater assembly hangs from the underside of the dash. It is held by 4 small nuts - 7mm, I think. You have to disconnect the hoses and control cables and wires first and I recommend also removing the temperature control valve. The unit can be wiggled out on the passenger side.

lol its ok, be glad you dont own a milano...
I own 2 Verde's. The heater blower would not run today. But I fixed the tach and the dash lights a few days ago so the malfunction percentage corrected itself.

Mine has lots of weird problems, most of them go away after a little while though/.
pop the dash out and the whole unit comes right out...the dash is ALOT easyer to remove that i once thought...or atleast on my 87 it came out realy realy easy
I couldnt figure out how to get the dash put without breaking the peice in the middle where the heater control goes. How eaxactly does that work? Also, how do you pull the steering wheel without the bolts pulling put of the holes?
the wheel...its actualy easyer to just drop the column since its a 3bolt affair(1 pinchbolt 1 bolt at the back for the telescope and 1 up neer the wheel for the tilt).....when i pulled the dash out of the milly there was 2 bolts on each side of the dash and a pair of clips on the windshield line....the heater controls i left attatched to the heater box when pulling everything

ill look thru the pic's i took and snap a pic of the back of the dash and see if it helps ya any
G'Day Guys,

I couldnt figure out how to get the dash put without breaking the peice in the middle where the heater control goes. How eaxactly does that work?
See here, it's in Dutch but has pictures.

Also, how do you pull the steering wheel without the bolts pulling put of the holes?
I found the answer to that, a 3" 3 jaw puller with the jaws removed

The 'arms' fit inside the steering wheel.

How do you remove the peice thwere the radio and heater control goes? Thats the part i cant understand how it comes out. The rest wasnt any worse than the other times i have pulled the dash in a newer car.
Oops, they left that bit out.

See the Heater/Radio console removal guide on my site (I forgot it was there  ).
By the way, before you commit to the full removal, make sure you check the resistor board connected to the speed control. They frequently burn out and are easily fixed.
