August 19-22 2010 - Vintage Racing in Topeka KS
_______________________________

INVITATION TO CAR CLUBS

Now is the time to be planning your car club events for next year. So many things to do and only 12 months to do them in. Why not make at least one of those events an EXCITING EXTRAVAGANZA that your members will always remember.

Heartland Vintage Racing with sponsorship from O’Reilly Auto Parts company will have a very major Vintage Race Event at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas during August 19-20-21-22 of 2010.

There will be a huge area for car club corrals within the Paddock area. Club members will be able to walk among the race cars and visit with the drivers and crew members. Watch the old cars (1972 and older) run the way they used to run. Eight groups of cars will run, one group immediately after another, all day long. See displays of old Indy Roadsters and others and watch those same cars as they turn exhibition laps on the 2.5 mile road course. Enjoy the song of the Offy’s. Any one of three huge earthen hills on three sides of the road course offer great views of the entire course. Get close to the noise and the action on the grass area near turn 11 while you enjoy the hot dogs etc. from the nearby concession stand.

Visit all of the 50 or more vendors in vendor row including a large O’Reilly Auto Parts display. Listen to the band and its drum corps as they play the National Anthem on race Sunday while military aircraft fly over this huge facility.

Want to participate in the action? Come early and enter the Performance Driving Experience (PDX) on August 19. This event only costs $100 and provides some classroom in the morning and then driving your own car on track the rest of the day. A licensed race car driver will be assigned to you as an instructor and he will bring you up to speed to the best of your ability and the cars ability. You will need to bring a helmet.

The Vintage Race Cars (about 300 of them) will be doing test and tune on Thursday with practice and races on Friday and then races are all day on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday morning will rise and shine with the bumble bee buzz of Vintage Formula V’s in their special race that we expect 50 to 60 cars to participate in.

Just after lunch on Sunday we will hold the Kastner Cup Race which features only Triumph race cars. A huge turnout of entries is expected for this annual Triumph event. This race will be honored with a special military fly over.

On Friday evening the race cars will be escorted from HPT to the State Capitol Building where they will be on display and Vintage Racing will be welcomed to the Heartland by the Mayor of Topeka and others.

Your car club corral entry does not cost extra. Only a daily $10 admission charge per person will apply. A three day pass will be available for $25. Your corral spot will be marked off and a sign will indicate your clubs name. All we need is descriptive information about your club and the number of cars that will participate. Please complete the attached form and return it to secure your reservation. Send this to: [email protected] .

We do suggest that your members arrive on Thursday the 19th or no later than during the day on the 20th. Arrive on the 18th if they wish to participate in the PDX. There will be a people’s choice award given to the club selected as the Best Display and with over 5000 spectators on hand this should present quite a challenge and an honor to receive.

There are many other activities to participate in and these will show up on our web page shortly. The web page is constantly being updated so check it out at Welcome to Heartland Vintage Racing .

Thanks, and we sure look forward to seeing you at this great event.

Alex, if there is any interest in getting a STL group together at the track, I am planning on racing at this event. Giving the spotty history of my mechanical systems holding together, I can always use all the crew I can get!

Eric,

I'm doing all I can to help get the STL AROC folks more involved in racing...and hopefully, bring more racing folks into the STL club.

I'm going to be pretty busy with the convention this year, but if I'm available, I'll volunteer to be part of your crew...I come very cheap (free) and I don't mind climbing under greasy, hot cars and getting my knuckles busted, burned and bruised twisting a wrench or two!
