A few weeks ago, I had a magnaflow muffler installed. The installer told me that I had a slight leak upstream of the cat. I have not taken the exhaust manifold off to find the leak yet. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck repairing a crack, if that is the problem. IAP does not have Exhaust manifolds for my car in stock. I am considering headers, but am concerned about whether I would pass smog in California. I am told that there is a performance improvement at mid and high rpm with headers.

It's been a long time since I lived in the "land of fruits & nuts", but I know that changing exhaust system parts in Cal can be problematic. Does Cal still use independent shops for their smog inspections? If so I would have a chat with the folks at the inspection station to see what they will approve. A state inspector may not be as candid about modifications as an independent operator.

I'll bet that APE has your cast iron manifold. If not, I'll be parting a '79 Spider soon that I believe has the correct manifold for your car. $50 + shipping. Shipping across the country could be $30 -$40 on this chunk though. First find out if that's really your problem.
